PLATFORMS & SERVICES

AUTOMATED CRYSTALLOGRAPHY PLATFORM (PAC)

The Automated Crystallography Platform (PAC) is a technology platform that offers researchers the necessary tools to find adequate crystallization conditions from a purified protein sample, followed by X-Ray diffraction data collection and processing of the resulting macromolecular crystals. The PAC Facility is shared with the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB).

MOLECULAR IMAGING PLATFORM

The Molecular Imaging Platform (MIP) offers a collection of state-of-the-art light microscopy systems and techniques and provides assistance with all aspects of image acquisition and analysis, ranging from advice on imaging experiments to microscopy training or project collaborations.

CRYO-ELECTRON MICROSCOPY PLATFORM (CRIO-TEM-BIO)

Transmission Cryo-Electron Microscope (CRIO-TEM-BIO) equipped with a direct electron detector for the analysis of biological macromolecules. Project co-financed by ERDF, within the framework of the FEDER Operational Program of Catalonia 2014-2020 with a grant of 850,000.00€. Supply and installation of a 200 kV transmission electron cryomicroscopy equipped with a gun emission field and direct electron detector for the Institute of Molecular Biology of Barcelona (IBMB-CSIC).

BIOINFORMATICS AND DATA ANALYSIS

The Bioinformatics and Data Analysis Service offers a comprehensive platform for the analysis of genomic data obtained from Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) experiments, including ChIP-Seq, RNA-Seq, ATAC-Seq, and Hi-C, among others. Primarily supporting multiple research groups at the IBMB-CSIC institute, the Service gives support in analyzing large-scale structural genomic and transcriptomic datasets derived from diverse tissues, organisms, and cancer patients.

PROTEIN PURIFICATION SERVICE

The Protein Purification Service at the Institute of Molecular Biology of Barcelona (IBMB-CSIC) provides customers with reliable analytical and preparative purification tools to be run at room temperature and at 4ºC. The service is equipped with several FPLC ÄKTA chromatography systems (FPLC, AKTA Pure) with 2 fixed wavelengths at 280 and 260 nm.

GENOMICS AND TRANSCRIPTOMICS CORE SERVICE

The IBMB Genomics & Transcriptomics Core Facility (PGT-IBMB) has been created to give Scientific and Technologic coverage for the current research projects in the Institute. The PGT-IBMB has the objective of provide reagents, commercial kits, consumables and technical support related to Q-PCR techniques and chromatin sonication systems.

HISTOLOGY SERVICE

The processing of experimental tissues, organs and/or animals for microscopic study requires the preparation of histological sections in microtomes, vibratomes, cryotomes, etc., appropriate to the characteristics of the optical instruments used for visualization (optical, confocal, fluorescence microscopy, etc.).

CELL CULTURE MEDIA SERVICE

The service provides liquid and solid culture media for E. coli (LB and LB plus different antibiotics), S. cerevisiae (YPD and SDC drop outs) and D. melanogaster. A complete set of the most used buffers in cell and molecular biology are also offered. The users can either utilize the media and buffers in stock or order it in advance if an important quantity is required.
